Jakarta – Nahdlatul Ulama University of Indonesia (Unusia) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Central Executive Board of the Indonesian Advocates Movement Council (DPP DePA-RI) at the Jakoeb Oetama Hall, Unusia Campus, Jakarta, Friday (July 24). This collaboration is a strategic step in strengthening synergy in developing the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, particularly in the areas of legal education and the advocacy profession.

The event was attended by the Chairman of the DPP DePA-RI, Dr. TM. Luthfi Yazid, S.H., LL.M., Secretary General of the DPP DePA-RI, Dr. Sugeng Aribowo, S.H., M.H., the Chairperson of the Jakarta Raya DePA-RI Regional Executive Board (DPD), Kunthi Dyah Wardani, S.H., M.H., CRA., and the Secretary of the Jakarta Raya DePA-RI Regional Executive Board (DPD), Aldhi Setyawan Pratama, S.H., M.H., CRA. The delegation was received by Acting Rector of Unusia, Dr. Syahrizal Syarief, MPH., Ph.D., the Dean of the Faculty of Law, the Vice Deans of the Faculty of Law, along with the management and lecturers of the Unusia Faculty of Law.

In his remarks, the Dean of the Unusia Faculty of Law, Dr. Muhammad Afifi, expressed his appreciation for the collaboration. Echoing this sentiment, Kunthi Dyah Wardani, the Chairperson of the Jakarta Raya DePA-RI Regional Executive Board (DPD), stated that her organization has established partnerships with various institutions and hopes that collaboration with Unusia will expand in various fields.

"We hope this collaboration can be realized through various programs, ranging from internships and publications to other activities that benefit both parties," she said.

Acting Rector Unusia Rector Dr. Syahrizal Syarief, MPH., Ph.D., emphasized that this MoU opens up broad opportunities for collaboration, ranging from teaching and research to internship programs.

"Today we begin with a Memorandum of Understanding. In the future, we can carry out various activities that benefit both DePA-RI and Unusia. Hopefully, this meeting will bring blessings to us all," he said.

Meanwhile, the General Chair of the DPP DePA-RI, Dr. TM. Luthfi Yazid, S.H., LL.M., emphasized the importance of producing qualified advocates who are able to adapt to technological developments, including artificial intelligence (AI). He also expressed his appreciation to Unusia for the opportunity to build this partnership.

"Advocates never stop learning. We want to develop superior human resources and will provide support, including scholarship opportunities for those with potential," he said.

Through this Memorandum of Understanding, Unusia and the Central Executive Board of the Indonesian Department of Legal Aid (DPP DePA-RI) agreed to collaborate in various areas, including Special Education for the Advocate Profession (PKPA), the Advocate Professional Examination, internships, teaching, research, legal training, community service, advocacy and legal aid, scientific activities, and resource development for both institutions. The agreement is valid for five years and will be followed up through mutually agreed-upon work programs.

This collaboration is part of Unusia's commitment to expanding strategic partnerships with professional organizations to strengthen the quality of higher education, improve graduate competency, and make tangible contributions to the development of the legal world and society.
