Jakarta – Unusia Psychology student, Stefanie Fernando, brought honor to the university by winning first place (Gold Medal) in the Adult Women's Class D Competition Category at the 2026 Satria Bumi Pamungkas Open 6 Pencak Silat Championship. The national championship, which competed for the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora) Cup, was held on July 25–26, 2026, at the SV IPB Gymnasium, and was attended by more than 800 participants from various regions across Indonesia.

Stefanie, a Psychology student entering her seventh semester and the Chairperson of the Unusia Pencak Silat Student Activity Unit for the 2026–2027 period, said she learned about the championship from the media and fellow coaches in her unit. For her, the opportunity to participate in this national event was both a challenge and an opportunity to test the results of her training.

Amidst the busyness of preparing for her final semester and plans for the Community Service Program (KKN), Stefanie had to maintain consistent training, weight, and sleep patterns to stay in top condition for the competition.

"The biggest challenge I faced was maintaining consistent weight and training. I also had to maintain a consistent sleep pattern to stay fit throughout the championship, especially since I had already started preparing for KKN," she said.

Despite the short preparation time, Stefanie continued to train independently every day to hone the techniques she had mastered. This consistency ultimately paid off with a gold medal.

"I'm very happy and didn't expect to win a gold medal. The training was very short, so I consider this victory a self-reward for successfully completing Semester 6," she said.

According to Stefanie, the key to her success was believing in her own abilities, remaining disciplined in training, and never underestimating her opponents. She also admitted that the most memorable moment came after the match, when the entire team celebrated their victory together through a simple celebration, singing, dancing, and enjoying the camaraderie after undergoing rigorous preparation.

For Stefanie, this achievement is both a source of pride and motivation to continue improving. She hopes her achievements will inspire members of the Unusia Pencak Silat Student Activity Unit (UKM Pencak Silat) and other students to continue practicing, maintain consistency, and boldly pursue achievements in various fields.

Stefanie also encouraged Unusia students to use their time at university as an opportunity to develop their potential.

"Start honing your skills, whatever they are. Try everything you want to try and do whatever you want to do, because after graduation you might not have the opportunity to do it. Hopefully, this can motivate you all."

Stefanie Fernando's achievement adds to the long list of achievements by Unusia students in the field of sports.
