Mahasiswa PAI Unusia Raih Terbaik 1 MTQ Piala Gubernur DKI Jakarta Tingkat Jakarta Timur 2026

Jakarta – Another proud achievement has been achieved by a Unusia student. Amsar Ahmadi Pulungan, an 8th-semester Islamic Religious Education (PAI) student, won first place in the Adult Recitation Competition (Tilawah) at the 2026 East Jakarta Governor's Cup Musabaqah Tilawatil Quran (MTQ) competition. This achievement demonstrates Amsar's dedication and perseverance in developing his recitation skills and bringing honor to Unusia at the East Jakarta City level.

In the Adult Recitation competition, participants were required to recite verses from the Quran using a maqra' (pronoun) randomly determined by a panel of judges immediately before performing on the recitation podium. The judges assessed the participants based on aspects of tajweed, fashahah (pronoun), and the artistry of the recitation. The competition, which included approximately 20 participants, consisted of a single final round, requiring each participant to deliver their best performance without the opportunity to retake.

According to Amsar, the biggest challenge in the competition was facing the maqra' (a live draw) before the performance, as well as controlling his nerves before the panel of judges. Nevertheless, he admitted that he had prepared himself thoroughly through regular and continuous practice.

"Alhamdulillah, I maximized my preparation through regular practice. When I performed, I surrendered everything to Allah SWT. After putting my trust in Allah SWT, I was able to control myself and display my best abilities," said Amsar.

Behind his success in winning the Best 1 title lies a long journey for Amsar. The student from Medan, North Sumatra, began studying the art of tilawah (recitation) in 2013 and continues to hone his skills through consistent practice. For him, the process was not merely about achieving success, but also about making his parents happy, practicing his knowledge, and using the Quran as a guide for life and a medium for preaching.

This success was a very meaningful achievement for Amsar. He was grateful to achieve this amidst the fierce competition from participants from East Jakarta and to bring honor to Unusia (Unusia University) in the event.

"Alhamdulillah, I am very grateful to be the best. Competing in Jakarta presents its own challenges because the competition is very fierce. I am also proud to be able to represent Unusia at the East Jakarta City level," he said.

Amsar hopes his achievement will motivate other students to continue developing their potential based on their talents. He also encouraged students to not hesitate to participate in various competitions and to utilize the Student Activity Units (UKM) as a platform to hone their skills and achieve success.

"Continue to be enthusiastic about learning, develop your abilities according to your talents, participate in various competitions, and use the Unusia UKM as a platform to develop your potential," he advised.

This achievement is expected to inspire other students to continue developing their potential through various competitions. In line with its commitment to producing superior and morally upright graduates, Unusia consistently supports students in achieving success, both in academics and religious fields, at the national and international levels.
